SAP All Set To Become the Fastest Growing Database Vendor

Mumbai: At SAP Forum Mumbai, SAP India, announced its innovation road map to transform the database market in India. Keeping with the company’s focus on using innovative technologies to address rapidly changing customer demands, Steve Lucas, global executive vice president and general manager, Database & Technology, SAP, unveiled the company’s strategy to become the fastest growing database vendor.

The strategy, based on SAP real-time data platform offering, will help businesses become more agile while helping to lower operating costs substantially. With SAP HANA and its integration with comprehensive database solutions from Sybase, an SAP company, SAP has now launched a new breed of data management offering with in-memory acceleration at its core to help customers simplify their data management landscape and improve insights into real-time data.

“SAP continually strives to create a unique blend of ideas and innovative technologies, and this year we will emphasize our focus on becoming the fastest-growing database vendor in the industry,” said Lucas. “Our unified strategy for the database market provides customers the SAP real-time data platform, comprised of SAP HANA, Sybase data management offerings and SAP solutions for enterprise information management.”

Businesses are rapidly adopting SAP solutions for real-time insight into their databases, enabling customers to take timely decisions and stay ahead of competition. Recently, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution (MSED), one of the largest power distribution companies in India, selected SAP Sybase ASE. Another Nagpur based power project development company, Abhijeet Power Limited (APL) also chose SAP solutions to replace its existing Oracle database solutions. Both MSED and APL will now accelerate business performance, gain real-time insight and acquire the ability to process and analyze information quickly.

Recent customers in India running the SAP ERP application have also opted for SAP technology to transact, move, store, process and analyze data in real time. Those that have joined this trend include Bhavnagar Energy Company Ltd, Industrial Mineral Comp, Jeans Kit and Sanghvi Foods to name a few.

Subodh Dubey, Group CIO at USHA, shared some results of their SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (SAP NetWeaver BW) powered by SAP HANA implementation: “Business users are very thrilled with the results. They are able to run reports faster, and more importantly, productively utilize their time for analysis and better decision making. Our IT department is also very happy as this project has achieved faster data loads making more current data available to business; faster reporting and analysis making business users happy.” Another customer who successfully went live with SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA in India is Asian Paints.

With SAP Business Suite software on SAP Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (SAP Sybase ASE), SAP plans to offer optimal integration with a commitment to provide new and existing customers with end-to-end application and database solutions, along with integrated maintenance and synchronized releases. As a part of the SAP real-time data platform, SAP Sybase ASE brings to SAP applications a proven database management system that has been in use for more than 25 years in highly demanding, mission-critical transactional environments across industries.

“SAP is redefining the database market in India by combining the innovation and expertise of SAP and Sybase,” said Peter Gartenberg, managing director, SAP India. “Sybase Data management solutions and HANA have opened several growth opportunities for us in the Indian market with significant customer adoption across private and government organizations. Encouraged by this growth, we have also introduced various certification courses to enable our partners and customers on the various data management product offerings.”
