'Printer Virus' Attacks Indian Companies

Bangalore: Milicenso is back! A virus that first popped onto the scene in 2010 as a tool for distributing French language adware has made its return, only this time in the form of a printer virus. Reports say that Milicenso already has affected over thousands of office systems across the globe. This time the attack has made printers across the sphere go crazy as they have been continuously spewing out thousands of print out twaddle pages.

There are reports that the virus has infected thousands of security computers under giant business firms especially in US, India, Europe, and South America. This is not the first time that Milicenso has made the news since its arrival in 2010. Milicenso has been a noted as a regular invader, but only to come out in different formations.

Security giants Symantec were the first to discover this malicious software and since then they have noted this virus as a “malware delivery vehicle for hire.” According to Symantec, Milicenso now inserts a special file, with some gabble contents, into the queue of the printer linked to the infected PC. Now these contents are connected to the main structure of the virus code which instructs the printer to continuously print some gibberish contents.

"The garbled printouts appear to be a side effect of the infection vector rather an intentional goal of the author," said Symantec. But security organizations have already released updates to wipe out the contagion forever.
