Bangalore: Thomas Freidman in a book titled ‘The World is Flat’ highlighted ‘outsourcing’ as one of the most prominent forces that has ‘flattened’ the world, which none can argue.

With product life cycle shrinking and technology becoming ever more transient, even the well-versed organizations are finding themselves overwhelmed with the pace of change.  As companies expand and broaden their client base, they are finding it hard to maintain dedicated product development teams for continuous product development while supporting the existing version. Product development outsourcing seems to be the best option moving forward.

In the words of Akshay Upadhye, a Senior Consultant with Alsbridge Plc, “Product development outsourcing will no longer be an optional business strategy. It will become standard operating procedure. With offshore outsourcing increasingly accepted as a key competitive strategy in the global economy, the production cycle for technology-centered products will require global resources and global delivery.”
