Meet Netweb Technologies: The Director of India's Fastest Supercomputer, Param Yuva II
Components used to build this finest technology:
According to Lodha, the prime components used where Intel Xeon Processors, Intel Xeon Phi Accelerators and FDR InfiniBand from Mellanox.
Comparing PARAM Yuva II with other high ranked supercomputers:
“None of the supercomputing companies in the world have launched Xeon Phi based solutions. In November 2012 list of world’s top 500 supercomputers, PARAM YUVA II already stands at 62nd position in the world and at # 1 position in the country. About 300 people from the C-DAC team were involved in the making of the supercomputer, which also promised to be energy efficient with 35 percent reduction in energy consumption as compared to the earlier facility,” said Lodha.
“From an efficiency point of view and with the launch of PARAM YUVA –II, C-DAC has taken a quantum jump towards creating a general purpose research-oriented computational environment. This system is designed to solve large and complex computational problems. This will provide an opportunity for new scientific endeavors for the research community. By making use of hybrid technology, the increase in peak compute power from mere 54 Teraflop/s to a humongous 524 Teraflop/s has been achieved without any significant change in the electrical power consumed by the facility. The biggest problems faced by the supercomputer all over the world today are the amount of power it consumes. Hence the idea to shift towards a green computing technology,” Lodha added.
The next step for Netweb Technologies:
Lodha said “The market for our HPC solutions is on the take off stage. We are already witnessing a larger order book and increasing order value last two quarters. Even better, we are now getting RFP calls from bigger customers who initially preferred the branded proprietary solutions across target markets both within and outside India.” With more than 13 years of hardcore IT experience at hand, Netweb Technologies is all set to be the global front runners of HPC solutions.
