Is Your iPhone, iPad Snooping On You?


BANGALORE:  No doubt Apple has worked hard to make iOS devices reasonably secure against typical attackers, to ensure that Apple can access data on end-user devices on behalf of law enforcement.

Jonathan A. Zdziarski, forensic scientist, and a reverse engineer published a journal, “Identifying Back Doors, Attack Points, and Surveillance mechanisms in iOS Devices,” which presented an overview of undocumented high-value forensic services running on every iOS device, like how they’ve evolved and what kind of data they provide.

The report raised a number of questions for Apple such as why are these undocumented services that bypass user backup encryption dumps mass amount of personal data from the phone. Why is most of the user data still not encrypted with the PIN or passphrase, enabling the invasion of user’s personal privacy?
