Ironic! NSA Revelations Are Actually Helping U.S. Tech Industry

Bangalore: Ever since NSA’s former agent, Edward Snowden exposed the U.S. Technology companies’ secret collaboration with national intelligence agency to gather private information from its users, there has been widespread speculations on the possible damage on the technology companies’ financial sector but instead, it may actually end up helping the tech industries.

Tech giants such as Google and Facebook which have been closely involved with the NSA, say that ever since the exposure, they have hardly felt any dents on their flourishing businesses. Even the cloud computing companies like Amazon and Microsoft Corp which provide remote computing services for its clients deny rumors on their financial downfall.

On the other hand, small scale tech companies in the U.S. that offer security and encryption related services are positively picking up on their domestic and overseas businesses as individuals and companies alike are opting for extra security to protect their secrets. “The message people are getting from the newspapers everyday is that it’s a wild world out there and you need to protect yourself,” said Jon Callas, co-founder of phone and text encryption provider Silent Circle, where revenue quadrupled from May to June on a small base.
