Intel Appoints Brian Krzanich As The New CEO

Bangalore: Intel has announced that they have elected its chief operating officer Brian Krzanich as the new CEO, replacing Paul Otellini.

Krzanich, who takes over Intel at a particularly challenging time, is the company’s sixth CEO. Krzanich has been working at Intel since 1982. He has been the COO since January 2012. The board also announced that Renee James, 48, will take up the presidential post of the company and the board has expanded to 10 members so as to contain Krzanich.

Intel, who clearly is on the wrong part of the history, has been trying hard to gain some momentum within the massive mobile chip industry. Today, UK based ARM is considered as the main drivers in chip business, who provides low-cost mobile chips to vendors such as Samsung, who later on implements them on their mobiles.

At present, whatever or whichever mobile you pick, it’s based on the ARM technology. iPhones, iPads, Samsung, Nokia, Sony Smartphones, you name it; they all have ARM chips running in them.

On the other hand, Intel, once known for micro chips, is running way behind the leaders. Apart from that, the appointment of Krzanich comes in at a crucial time where the company is reported to have flushed in a lot of money into Intel Media, a new service architecture to take on cable companies.
