Infosys and Wipro Worried Due To Lack Of Entry Level Talent

Bangalore: The IT companies based in India are increasingly criticizing about the lack of quality content of fresh graduates that are recruited by the companies in huge numbers. As per the reports of ET, a research was conducted by Knowledgefaber, Bangalore-based research and consulting firm out of which the findings revealed that only students from tier 1 engineering colleges, such as IITs and NITs which consist of around 4.5% engineering students are ideal to work in software products firms like Microsoft and Google.

Besides, 45% of students from tier 1, 2 and 3 colleges are fit for IT service companies like Infosys and Wipro. But in 2012, around 45.7% students were from the arts background as per the research studies.

"Customer needs are changing and technology developments are placing greater demand on the industry. Outstanding interface skills, deeper domain knowledge and awareness of the business context has become a 'must have' for today's professionals. Not all colleges that churn out students have been able to build these skills into their curriculum, thereby necessitating companies to bridge the skill gaps and bring about standardization of capability, among students hired from different parts of the country," said Hari T, Chief People Officer at Mahindra Sathyam.

The Computer science and IT accounts fall nearly 32.5% in India, while electronics and mechanical stream comes in second and third with 21.8% and 17.7% of students opting for the above mentioned streams. Majority if the IT firms have arranged training facilities to improvise their skills as well as assist them to track their right talent with certain tailor-made courses.
