Infosys Partners With Cornell For Hospitality Research

BENGALURU: Global software major Infosys Ltd is partnering with Cornell University in the US for high quality research in hospitality industry.

"As part the agreement with Cornell University, we are joining its school of hotel administration's centre for hospitality research advisory board to understand problems clients in hospitality industry face and design industry research," the company said in a statement.

The outsourcing IT major will also work with the centre's partners to make the research relevant to the industry's needs and participate in judging It's annul industry relevance awards, which recognise faculty research at the school.

"The hospitality industry is experiencing technology-driven disruptions, forcing providers to find new ways to engage with customers and reinvent their core business," Infosys vice-president for life sciences and services Manish Tandon said.

As the scale at which the industry operates is challenging, requiring partnering between the industry and academia, the company will provide high-tech solutions in the hospitality industry and talent at the school's research centre.

"We hope to identify the problems and define solutions that can reinvigorate the industry," Tandon noted.

Lauding the initiative, Cornell's associate dean Michael C. Sturman said Infosys' business solutions operated at the nexus of hospitality and leisure industry's transformational efforts to blend technology with personal service.

Founded in 1922 as America's first collegiate course of study in hospitality management, the New York-based Cornell school is recognised as the world leader in the domain and provides management instruction in hospitality disciplines, educating the next generation.
