Indian IT Surging in Female Workforce, Still Lacks Women Executives

The number of employees in the IT industry has steeply increased with Infosys alone having nearly 34 percent of female workforce. The other companies have a female workforce ranging in the category of 24 percent-34 percent.

The reason for the increase can be attributed to the changing policies that companies are adopting in order to offer their female workforce a more secure and a stable career option. There are various software companies  who are now coming up with more women-centric policies in order to lure more number of female employees towards a career in IT some of the examples being The Technovation Challenge sponsored by nonprofit Iridescent, DigiGirlz classes from Microsoft, and Girls Who Code, backed by Google, eBay, General Electric and Twitter.

With IT spanning its presence in almost all sectors, the scope of this field is seen as immense. The same trend is prevalent in the U.S. as well but the recent appointments of deserving female candidates at the top executive positions are hinting towards a change. India, on the other hand is still awaiting such a shift.

It is only when the management starts focusing more on the work being done by an employee that we can hope for an Indian woman holding the top executive position.
