IBM to Buy Cloud HR Software Vendor Kenexa

Bangalore: IBM is all set to strengthen its enterprise social services by acquiring Kenexa, an organization that mainly targets at developing apps for HR operations, for an undisclosed amount of $1.3 billion.

According to IBM, the company is offering around 42 percent, which means that each share of Kenexa is worth around $46.

Based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, Kenexa develops a number of cloud applications that is supposed to improve the HR operations, that includes services like recruiting, compensation, performance management and employee surveys. Kenexa does its operations in and over 21 countries.

With the upcoming acquisition of Kenexa, IBM has clearly intensified its plans to enforce itself in the platform of enterprise social services along with HR operations. Already IBM has been expanding and supporting Kenexa’s products along with other merchandises.

"I expect us to move quickly post-closing to bring all of this value together," said Alistair Rennie, general manager of IBM social business, during a press conference.

Paul Hamerman, a Forrester Research analyst, said that, "The recruiting business has changed and has heavily embraced social networks as a vehicle."

With the increased importance of social networking sites across enterprise platform, it’s pretty clear that IBM plans to increase the level of enterprise social service. It was in last December that SAP bought SuccessFactors, followed by the acquisition of Taleo by Oracle.
