Heat Waves Steam Up Issues In Online Firm

BANGALORE: There are probably instances when you feel like staying indoors just to beat the heat and even decide to shop online just to while away your time, so let us help burst your bubble when we tell you this, you are not alone! You are but another oblivious number adding to the millions of urban Indian consumers who are currently harboring within their lair just to escape the wrath of the blistering heat.

Now on establishing this fact, does it occur to you that delivery boys face the worst plights in taking tall orders from their employers? Whether  its e-commerce, startup or third-party logistics providers, these employers are  sending them back on the streets to traverse on their two wheelers while they ensure deadlines are met, deliveries are received and profits are created, reports ET.

Industry insiders believe that while this may be a fine issue to concentrate on, there are still plenty of obstacles to deal with. Some of which are more prominent than others such as finding out the customer's location. GPS navigation is certified to aid in discovering a new location, however, finding each and every address in mapping applications are hectic, especially when dealing with smaller towns and non-metro cities.

Regardless of the attempts made by delivery companies and enterprise solution providers to tackle the issue through  creation of systems-based routing technologies in-house, the obstacle is still evidently present. "The mapping technology is not 100pct. You still have to follow up with the delivery boys from time to time on the road, “said Rishi Khiani, CEO and Managing Director of incubator Ant Farm.

Kapil Bharati, co-founder and CTO of Delhivery which is a Delhi-based logistics provider also shares the same adversities in  finding delivery address, which  is  far more challenging in tier-II and tier-III towns, wherein  geographical correlation of addresses are more or less unavailable.
