Google Cloud To Be Launched This Week?

Bangalore: Rumors have always been a big part of Google and now to top this list is the much awaited launch of Google Cloud. According to Om Malik of GigaOM, Google is all set to introduce its cloud platform this Wednesday at the Google I/O which is its annual developer conference.

Recent years has seen Google working so hard to develop new cloud offerings like Google Docs and Google Drive.  Also Google has been successful in developing big data apps like Google Prediction API and BigQuery. Their ever popular PaaS app – The App Engine has been serving for years as a hosting platform for many enterprise users.

But still the IaaS platform is altogether another level and experts really believe that Google, with its ever popular name, will bring down some giants. With the recent unveiling of Sony’s Internet Player with Google TV, it’s sure that Google is aiming at greater heights.

Experts say Google’s main target may be Amazon as they already have a secure footing among lot of startups and new cloud companies. Also not to forget about Amazon’s ever popular cloud storage Amazon S3. Amazon recently has been attracting a lot of heat from other cloud giants like Microsoft, IBM, Rackspace, HP, Verizon and AT&T.

Although Amazon is the front runner, certain analysts say the story goes the other way round. With Amazon still trying to budge into the enterprise platform, the real target for Google seems to be Microsoft and its community. No doubt as one of the biggest strengths of Microsoft, the enterprise developer community is so trustworthy and now it seems that Google is after them.

Also Google has offered their partnership with certain third party companies like Rightscale and Opscode to smoothen up the cloud platform so that the enterprise users can easily write, deploy and manage apps in its service.
