Cisco, NetApp Backs Integrated Data Center Infrastructure

Bangalore: A majority of companies are shifting their gears to adopt two of the hottest trends in the IT industry; cloud and virtualization, and companies like Cisco and NetApp are ensuring the transition remains smooth. The companies have declared upgrades to their existing FlexPod platform. FlexPod was launched in November 2010 and provides an integrated virtualization optimized infrastructure to large organizations.

In the two years of its existence FlexPod has a customer base of 1300 enterprises spread in 35 countries. The platform offers clustering technology that will allow unlimited scalability and a validated VMware workflow for Oracle RAC users.

The companies have also showcased ExpressPod aimed at encouraging SMBs to virtualize their storage and networking environments.

The new version of FlexPod will offer support and validation for VMware vSphere thus enabling organizations to add nodes to their storage clusters and enhance scalable capacity. It will also allow easy migration of VMs even when apps would be running on these machines.
