Booming Global IT To Touch $3.8 Trillion In 2014

BANGALORE: The Global IT is apparently to reach its pink in 2014 with record growth of 3.2 percent to $3.8 trillion than compared to 2013, according to the latest report from Gartner, a market research firm.

In 2013 the IT spending did grow but a feeble less than 1 percent, where enterprise software and IT services did well contrary to the spends on PCs, mobiles and tablets which suffered the most followed by telecom services and data center systems. However, according to the latest report, the current year is to see a steady all-round growth in IT spending.

"Globally, businesses are shaking off their malaise and returning to spending on IT to support the growth of their business," said Richard Gordon, managing vice president, Gartner, Computer World. "Consumers will be purchasing many new devices in 2014; however, there is a greater substitution toward lower cost and more basic devices than we have seen in prior years."

In 2014, the research firm says that the enterprise software segment is to become the fastest growing IT segment with whopping 6.9 percent growth to $320 billion followed at second spot by IT services which is to grow by 4.6 percent to $964 billion.
