Australian Websites Hacked By Anonymous

Bangalore: Anonymous is back- this time claiming that it has made at least ten Australian government websites go offline. According to certain websites, anonymous has dropped attacks in the name of proposed changes to privacy laws.

Anonymous, through its Australian version, claimed that they will continue attacks on websites, until the government proposes policies to force ISPs to store user data. Apart from that, Anonymous also claimed that they wanted these policies available to all security services that are right now being shelved. If the government doesn’t agree with these policies, then it will continue its attacks on “.gov.au” sites, claimed Anonymous Australia via email.

“The Australian Government is attempting to strip away its citizens’ Internet rights by forcing them to surrender passwords and Internet usage data,” Anonymous Australia said via email. “Unless the Government starts acting in the best interest of its people, it will continue to bring the noise.”

According to Anonymous, the current security policies by the government sets up easy access for intelligence agencies to social sites like Facebook and Twitter, which means that they can monitor and access data’s that ranges from postings in social networks to emails stored up to two years ago.
