6 Cloud Computing Predictions for 2013

Bangalore: Analyst firm Forrester has reported that IT leaders and administrators will need to “get real” and must stop saying that everything is moving into cloud computing in 2013.

The research spoke of Forrester’s top 10 cloud predictions for the year 2013. According to James Staten, Forrester US infrastructure and operations principal analyst, next year enterprises will realize the do’s and not’s in the cloud computing platform and will “get real” by vanquishing the thought that everything is going within the cloud.

"We now have enough understanding about what makes cloud platforms different from traditional virtual infrastructures and traditional hosting environments to make architecturally sound decisions about which applications to move to the cloud," he said.

Staten advises that it’s better to build applications focused on cloud rather expecting applications from cloud.

"This way you can achieve any SLA regardless of the base agreement provided by the cloud platform," he said. "What's the value of having your sourcing and vendor management team negotiates a high and tight SLA from the cloud vendor when only 10 per cent of the applications deployed there need that level of protection?"
