15 Amazing Enterprise Tech World Records

Bangalore: From fastest chip to the tiniest transistor, from blazing supercomputers to speed texting, here we bring you a catalog of 15 most amazing, weird, and impressive feats achieved in the field of technology in the recent past:

The Fastest Supercomputer:
Outperforming the previous record of the fastest supercomputer set by Fujitsu K, IBM Sequoia is the new fastest supercomputer. IBM Sequoia is a 16.32 petaflop machine that runs on about 1.5 million processing cores and is set up in Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. It outperformed Fujitsu K that was a 10.1 petaflop machine running 705,024 cores.

The Tiniest Transistor:
This is a little difficult one to beat. An international group comprising of American and Australian researches have created, what they refer to as the world’s smallest transistor that can be controlled. Created using a single phosphorous atom, this is touted as a major step in initiating an era of quantum computing.

The Fastest Chip:
Last year, AMD set a new world record generating the highest computing speed achieved by a processor (8.429 GHz) using its FX chip breaking the previous record of 8.308 GHz. However luring it may sound, this chip can still not be installed in our desktops because of the heat it generates. The researches at AMD had to use Liquid Nitrogen to cool down the chip that generated 230 degrees.
