Yumchek Eyes India, Singapore For Growth

NEW DELHI: Yumchek, an app offering personalised restaurant suggestions, is betting big on markets like India andSingapore to drive growth.

The app, which has seen 1.35 lakh downloads already, aims to reach the three lakh mark by the end of the year.

"We have a philosophy -- making each meal count. Yumchek has a learning algorithm that personalises restaurant suggestions for users in real time based on location, time of the day, past consumption patterns, etc," Yumchek CEO Piyush Gupta said.

For the restaurants, Yumchek brings in a predictive element that can help them plan better based on the insights and data analytics received, he added.

It has over 85,000 restaurants listed on its platform.

To ensure engagement on the platform, Yumchek offers users a cashback of Rs 5 in their Paytm wallet when they upload their meal receipts. Also, a donation is made to Akshaya Patra to feed children.

"We get receipts from over 95 cities as of now. Our focus is on India and by the end of the year, we will expand to Singapore as well," he said.

Asked about the revenue model, Gupta said the company will look for brand partnerships for the platform.

"There are multiple revenue sources that we are exploring. Right now, the focus is on building the user base and ensuring engagement on the platform. We don't want to be a listing destination alone, we want to offer relevant recommendations to people," Gupta said.

He added that the company is starting discussions to raise funds of about USD 500,000-USD 2 million to fund its expansion plans.
