World's Most Ethical Companies


BANGALORE: Ethisphere Institute- an independent center of research and thought leadership in the field of corporate ethics-is out with its eighth annual list of the Most Ethical Companies of the World. The list “recognizes companies that truly go beyond making statements about doing business “ethically” and translate those words into action”. The criteria considered to arrive at the list include- Ethics and Compliance Program, Reputation, Leadership and Innovation, Governance, Corporate Citizenship and Responsibility and Culture of Ethics. The resultant list contains 144 illustrious names from 41 industry verticals. The list is non-ranking in nature and contains 38 companies based outside the U.S. Two Indian companies hold the pride of place in the list. Here are the world’s 5 most Ethical companies.

Wipro Limited: The third largest IT services company in India, Wipro, with total asset of $8.01 billion matches, its corporate achievements with its social sector undertakings and commitment to sustainability.In their mission to become good socio-economic citizen, they have set three clearly defined goals- to do business with integrity, become ecologically sustainable and contribute to the local community through socio-economic initiatives. Its major initiatives include- Wipro Care through which it engages with the local communities, Mission10X- to equip engineering graduates with employability skills, Eco Eye- to reduce the carbon foot print of the business and Earthian Sustainability Program-to encourage sustainability awareness and thinking among school and college students.
