World Food Day 2016: These Mind-Bending Facts won't Ram down Your Throat That Easy

BENGALURU: Every year, Oct. 16th people around the world come together and commit to rooting out the hunger problem. On this day, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was founded in U.N as there are many countries that are having hardest time feeding their citizens.

Some blunt and heartbreaking facts are being shared by here in a hope that we all might find some ways to contribute to this crisis.

Food doesn’t reach to one out of every nine people

Close to 795 million people has no access to proper food so that they can maintain a healthy and active daily routine. We are 7.4 Bn on earth; it means that every ninth human being on this planet is troubled and faces the deficiency of food on daily basis.

Believe us; the world produces enough food to feed every human alive

It is sad but true, the world actually produces enough amount of food to feed all 7 Bn strength but unfortunately, many poverty-stricken communities have neither have the money to purchase it nor own any land to grow food for them.

Major cause of hunger is poverty

Money has got all the powers indeed, inefficient money leads to a lack of resources. Without monetary aid, no country can progress or even improve a bit. The rise in lack of basic necessities—food, clothes, and house—is often the result of unequal distribution of wealth in the country. This includes countries like Africa, India, china, Pakistan and many others.

Developing countries have nearly 5 percent of the total malnourished people

The continent Asia shares the largest portion of the world hunger crisis. 525 Mn (approx.) people are starved within this area. With approximately 214 undernourished citizens, Sub-Saharan Africa follows. Latin America and the Caribbean have a total of 37 million undernourished people, combined.

The climate has been changing continuously. So the experts this year would think and plan for a sustainable future. Also, water supply is the primary concern for three big grain producers: China, India, and the US. Aquifer depletion now threatens grain harvests in these regions.

Around 3.1 Mn children are dying every year because of poor nutrition. Only 10 countries so far have reduced their hunger rate. There are thousands of ways to fight against the world hunger problem over our planet. Dozens of reputable charities accept donations to feed “third-world citizens”. As an individual, one can spread the knowledge on world hunger to friends and families. Choose whatever approach suits you at this point, try not to ignore and be a part of the solution.
