U.S. Business Delegation to Visit India in November

WASHINGTON : A U.S. business delegation will visit India later this year to explore increased business and investment opportunities in the country.

The delegation from Montgomery County will be led by its Executive Isiah Leggett and will visit New Delhi and Bangalore from November 13 to 22 with opportunities for delegates to travel also to Hyderabad and Raipur, said a statement issued by the India-U.S. World Affairs Institute.

The Washington-based institute has been selected by the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development to help facilitate business-to-business interactions (B2B) with companies in India and offer an array of B2B and logistics support services for companies accompanying the County Executive's India business mission. Building on Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley's November 2011 trade and investment mission, members of the delegation could also attend a major Technology Summit & Technology Platform to be held in the capital during their visit.

The 20th annual technology summit being organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Government of India's Department of Science & Technology will have the U.S. as partner country for the very first time. Hundreds of companies throughout India and abroad attend the Summit, thus offering opportunities for Maryland companies to meet with them at the Summit itself. "America's and India's fortunes in the 21st century seem irrevocably tied together, and it is in the interests of both nations to continue working together in business, economic, defence, homeland security, foreign affairs, and other spheres," said Raj Dave, chairman of the India-U.S. World Affairs Institute.
