Gujarat: Gujarat contributes 16 percent of India’s total industrial production. The state with a consistent double digit growth rate also boasts of highly skilled multilingual workforce, connectedness-good road network and domestic and international air ports, power surpluses. The Gujarat government has taken initiatives to do away with red tapism and introduce a single window clearance system for businesses. In 2011 ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ summit, the MOUs that were signed amounted to $ 463 billion. In 2011, Forbes rated Ahmadabad as the world’s third fastest growing city. It is India’s only electricity surplus state. The state is now investing heavily on solar power production. No wonder, Gujarat features as the second most business friendly states in India.

 

Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh saw GDP growth of 12 percent in 2011-12. This centrally located state of India is rich in natural resources with a dense forest cover and the largest deposit of diamond and copper in India. Its geographical location is conducive for business as they get to access to the markets of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. This is the reason consumer goods companies are setting up their manufacturing units here. Madhya Pradesh has 5 Special Economic Zones in IT/ITES, agro business and mines verticals. In 2011 alone, the state gave approval for 14 proposed Special Economic Zones. Madhya Pradesh ranks at number 3 in the list of most business friendly states of India behind Haryana and Gujarat.
