Top 5 Sensex Firms Add Over 98,000 Crore in Market Cap


NEW DELHI: The combined market valuation of the top five sensex companies surged more than 98,000 crore last week, with Coal India and SBI emerging as the biggest gainers. RIL, ONGC, CIL, SBI and HDFC saw cummulative addition of 98,170.7 crore in market capitalisation (m-cap).

On the other hand, TCS, ITC, HDFC Bank, Infosys and ICICI Bank together lost Rs 28,637.4 crore. CIL's m-cap surged 32,781.93 crore at 2,51,107.1 crore, becoming the top gainer. State Bank of India's market value zoomed 25,454.4 crore to reach 2,05,699.6 crore, while that of ONGC soared by 19,292.6 crore at 3,48,636.2 crore.

Similarly, RIL's m-cap shot-up by 15,304.8 crore at 3,64,550.7 crore; HDFC added 5,337 crore to reach 1,43,514 crore valuation. On the downside, ITC's value slipped by 12,247.9 crore at 2,72,118.2 crore, while Infosys m-cap declined by 6,394.1 crore, to 1,76,089.5 crore. The market cap of TCS plunged 5,905.6 crore to 4,16,699.8 crore, HDFC Bank lost 3,649.6 crore to 1,89,561.8 crore and ICICI Bank's value fell by 440.2 crore to 1,68,789.9 crore.
