Top 10 Profitable Companies in Global 500


Bangalore: Each and every year the big hot shot companies try to perform better and better to make it to the top charts. This year, the crown of being the most profitable company in the Fortune Global 500 first list is owned by Exxon Mobil with $44.9 billion profit.

Though Oil major Royal Dutch Shell topped in terms of revenues but in terms of profits Exxon Mobil made its way ahead to the first position. The second position was closely followed by Apple, at $41.7 billion.

The list is again dominated by the U.S. companies with 132 companies among the 500. China had the second most with 89 companies. Read on to know the top 10 companies that made it to the list, reported by CNN money.

The American multinational is direct descendant of John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company and is one of the major oil and gas corporations. The company occupies the first position among the Fortune Global 500 2013 companies in terms of revenues with $44.9 million.

Though refining has been regarded a heave on profits by some analysts, but the world’s biggest refiner didn’t fall for that logic. It continued the legacy of spinning off refineries to focus on oil drilling.
