These Are the World's Richest Economies of 2014

BENGALURU: Gone are the days when the countries were defined by their military strength. A strong economy is what defines a powerful nation today. The countries are racing to be one among the richest nations of all. According to the World Bank, 12 largest economies in the world make up two thirds of the world’s economy. This data however, shows that there is a clear problem of unequal distribution of resources and profits.

The Richest has compiled a list of rich countries as per the data drawn from IMF and World Economic Report. There is catch here, though these are the richest nations, some of them have the highest poverty rates, making it evident that being rich doesn’t relate to being better off. Here are the ten countries; and it is delighting to find that India is one among them.

10. India: $2.0 trillion

Yes, India has an economy worth 2 trillion dollars and stands as the tenth wealthiest nation in the world. Considering the fact that India is also a populous country, trillions of dollars may not be sufficient. Despite being one of the greatest economies, India has a whopping 29.8 percent of citizens below poverty. India once had a glorious past with all the wealth and prosperity and now, even though it stands as a strong economy it has lost its glory.
