BANGALORE: Indian Economic Reforms contributed a lot to the growth of Indian economy. Gone are those days when small Indian companies were acquired by the foreign ventures. The modern era scenario is quite different than earlier as in many Indian companies have acquired overseas companies.

Let’s take a glimpse of 8 Indian companies, who are in the pipeline of such acquisition process.

1.  Corus acquired by TCS

The biggest foreign acquisition made by an Indian company is attaining Corus Group, an Anglo Dutch steelmaker company by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of the finest steel production companies in the world.

TCS acquired Corus Group for $12.98 billion in October 2006; TCS was confronted by a Brazilian company CSN for about 9 rounds of bidding. Tata Steel emerged to be the 5th largest steel producer in the world soon after this deal was accomplished.

2. Zain acquired by Bharti Airtel

India’s largest mobile services company Airtel acquired Zain; an African based mobile telecommunication company in February 2010. With the ambition to step into global markets, Bharti Airtel made a deal of $10.7 billion (about 48,000 crore) with the African company.

At the end of the March 2010, Bharti acquired Zain Telecom’s business in 15 countries.
