BANGALORE: Recently, Apple has announced that the first week of January set a new record for billings from the App Store with customers around the world spending nearly half a billion dollars on apps and in-app purchases.

It seems that Apple is very much enthusiastic towards the development and this is the reason its lobbying presence in Washington is heavily following the release of Apple Pay and the impending release of the Apple Watch later in this year.

These milestones follow a record-breaking 2014, in which billings rose 50 per cent and apps generated over $10 billion in revenue for developers. Here are the 5 reasons why Apple is increasing its lobbying rate as compiled by Bloomberg.

# Way less than Google

Google and Apple might be the only two tech titans who were able to influence the lives of millions in this decade. While Apple is credited for revolutionizing the consumer electronic space with its blockbuster products like iPhone, iPad, iPod, Macs, Google on the other hand made exploring the galaxy of internet a lot easy.

Surely Apple is far behind Google, which is the biggest technology spender after struggling with its own antitrust analysis, with $13.7 million in U.S. lobbying costs in 2014. On the other hand, Apple spent $2.9 million in that same period.
