Organizations Ensure Employees to Spend Time off Work

BANGALORE: Workers are getting restless, stressed and at the same time overworked. Companies are saying no to leave encashment, where the employees are left with no options, but to drain the number of days off they get during a year. In the outcome, the organizations are encouraging employees to spend quality time off work too, reports Times of India.

Beginning of this financial year, Vodafone India has modified its casual leave and privilege leave policy by getting rid of Casual leave encashment and even the telecom operator has increased the necessary limit for Privilege leave by four days.
Godrej has also removed the monetization of sick leave, and at Siemens leave encashment is permitted only on retirement.

Encashment of leave balances has been common in companies for a long term, but now they have realized that this brings stress and negative impact in employees and also indirectly influences productivity levels. However, some companies allow leaves to be gathered to a certain number of days which is then allowed for encashment on retirement. Siemens allows unlimited gathering of leave beyond 55 years so that employees can benefit of encashment on retirement.

Leave encashment is a matter where companies and employees can be at disagreement of thought. Younger employees may not feel the need to take as many days off. However, Organizations believe this is not the best practice.
