Ola Money Enables Utilities' Cashless Payments Across India


NEW DELHI: Cab aggregator Ola's mobile wallet, 'Ola Money' on Monday said it has enabled cashless payments at over 25 utilities across the country to pay for key utilities like gas and electricity.

According to a statement issued by the mobile wallet, users could pay their utility bills by selecting the 'Bill Payment' option on the app and selecting their utility provider.

"Ola Money is now accepted at over 25 utilities across India including BESCOM-Bengaluru, BSES Yamuna and Rajdhani-Delhi, Noida Power-Delhi, Indraprastha Gas-Delhi, Mahavitaran-Maharashtra, Mahanagar Gas-Mumbai, Reliance Energy-Mumbai, Rajasthan Vidhyut Vitran Nigam, amongst others," the mobile wallet said in the statement.

"Apart from public utilities, Ola Money is also accepted at a range of other merchants across food, entertainment, ticketing and travel, recharge, shopping etc."

The statement said the Reserve Bank of India has increased the recharge limit on wallets like Ola Money from 10,000 to 20,000 until December 30, to facilitate convenient cashless transactions for citizens.

"With over 500 merchants already accepting Ola Money across India, we are proud to add 25 leading utilities to this list," Pallav Singh, Senior Vice President and Head of Ola Money, was quoted in the statement.

"With Ola Money, we are coupling our experience in payment technology with our deep commitment to keep India moving towards a cashless economy, helping realize the Digital India vision," the statement said.
