Kalpana Morparia, CEO of JPMorgan India states that the biggest turning point in her career was when she joined ICICI in 1975. That led to the comprehensive transformation of an individual who, until then, had no purpose to life and had to be pushed through school and even college, be it her graduation or her training in law. The ICICI job put her on the path to a corporate career. She was named one of “The 50 Most Powerful Women in International Business” by Fortune magazine in 2008 and one of the 25 most powerful women in Indian business by Business Today, a leading Indian business journal, in the years 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008. Morparia was also named one of the ‘The 100 Most Powerful Women’ by Forbes Magazine in 2006. She also serves on the Board of Bennett, Coleman & Company and CMC Limited.
