Her biotech firm, Biocon, makes low-cost drugs for chronic diseases and delivers affordable medical products to partners in 70 countries. The company saw a 16 percent growth in revenue in FY14.

Being an active philanthropist, she recently donated $5 million for a new research unit at her cancer hospital in Bangalore. She has received various prestigious awards for her outstanding efforts that inspires the younger generation, making the country proud.
