Indians Prefer MBA from U.S. but Business in India

Bangalore: If we have a close look at the recent trend, it’s noticeable that most of the Indian students are graduating from top global business schools, including Wharton, Harvard and Stanford, but are coming back home to start their own new business ventures.  It is good for a country like India, as the talent will be able to contribute to the domestic economy.

The Economic Times had interviewed the alumni of Wharton Business School whish have estimated that among the 70-80 Indian students of its 2012 MBA batch, 10-15 have turned entrepreneurs at their native. And in the present batches which have about 100 Indians, 15-20 are already entrepreneurs or are actively working towards founding their own businesses. This statistics is quite unbelievable when compared with the year 2009.

Harvard Business School started to see Indian entrepreneurs in their school from the last 5 years. But lately in 2011, according to its alumni estimates, the institute counted 5-6 out of 30-35 Indian students turning entrepreneurs.

In the same year, Stanford's B-school also saw an unprecedented figure, 16 percent of its class, starting their own firms, with a significant number of Indians in the group.
