India Inc Invests $2 Billion Overseas in Feb


New Delhi: Overseas investment by Indian companies stood at $2.01 billion in February with Reliance Industries and Tata group holding company Tata Sons emerging as major investors. In February, a total of 401 overseas investment transactions were done by Indian entities. The foreign direct investment (FDI) was at USD 797 million in January, according to the Reserve Bank of India data released today. Thus, the outward investment in the last 11 months of the current fiscal stood at $8.86 billion compared to $16.84 billion in April-February period of the previous fiscal. Among large outbound investment, Reliance Industries, involved in manufacturing, committed $1 billion to its subsidiary Reliance Oil & Gas Mauritius during the month. Cox & Kings India , which is into travel and tourism sector, invested $147.2 million through its various joint-ventures and wholly owned subsidiaries across the UK, Japan, Singapore and United Arab Emirates, it said. Tata Sons, through its wholly owned subsidiary invested $113.91 million in the UK during the month, it added.
