Global CEOs to Visit India to Discuss Direct Selling Industry Concerns


Bangalore: Addressing the industry concerns, the World Forum for Direct Selling Association (WFDSA) is making plans to visit India with all the stakeholders. The concern popped up after the recent arrests of Amway executives in India. The association where the members consist of the CEOs of the global direct selling companies will look for a disconnected legislation for the industry in India, reports Dipti Jian of TOI.

Chavi Hemanth, secretary general, Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) said, “They are quite apprehensive about India's direct selling sector, but we do not want to give them the wrong message. It is the first time that they will be meeting in India as they want to support the industry here."

Headquarter in USA the association has 60 countries as its members along with the CEOs of 30 international direct selling brands. The list includes Amway, Oriflame, Avon, Herbalife etc. the association members also has plans to meet the country’s Finance Minister and the ministry of corporate affairs.

The Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) has already prescribed few alterations to the rules and regulations under the Act and is presently in conversation with the finance ministry. India’s direct selling industry provides employment to 50 lakh distributors and had reported revenues of 6,385 crore in 2011-12.
