E-Commerce Over Power Fashion Retailers; Creating Great Decrease In End Of Season Sales

BANGALORE:  E-commerce seems to be very successful in the country over the past years. There has been a huge growth in country’s e-commerce sector with various websites and App services coming up with discount offers. Customers are being able to access numerous brands sitting at home thus the industry growth is commendable over the years. As the season ending sales are coming to an end with the recent tally the Fashion retailers are not so happy with the sales they have achieved, reports Rasul Bailay of Economic Times.

According to the reports the unusually warm winter in this year has worked as a major factor in the decreased amount of sales of winter wears as compared with last January’s winter wear sales. The fashion retailers’ feels that the buyers are not waiting for the End of season sales in order to get winter wears since all the online portals provide numerous offers during each phase of the year. The odd-even vehicle rule in Delhi is also marked as one among the factors that is hurting the sales of winter wear since less number of people are visiting the malls.

A mid-level executive at Woodland stated that, "We started the sale early this year but have hardly seen much traction. The winter sale in north India has definitely been disappointing as compared to previous years. However, this is just the initial stage. Several weeks are still left," whereas Dipak Agarwal who until recently was chief executive of DLF Brands said, "Retailers are all desperate and are crying as sales are big time down whosoever you speak to,"
