Coffee Day's Massive Expansion, A Serious Threat To Starbucks Bangalore Entry

Bangalore: The American global coffee chain Starbucks is up for a disappointment since Café Coffee Day, India’s largest coffee chain has already mopped almost all the prime locations in Bangalore. The world’s largest coffeehouse, Starbucks is planning to make an entry into the city along with the Tatas but might face tough competition for locations, reports The Times of India.

CCD has about 440 cafes in Bangalore which is the highest among all other coffeehouses in the country.  CCD’s founder VG Siddhartha seems to have planned it all ahead since the Indian coffee giant has left no prime locations untouched in the city. “Bangalore’s high-street realty scene has been sewed up well by CCD. The best locations in the best locales have been taken,” said Harish Bijoor, brand strategist and CEO, Harish Bijoor Consults. The hot-spots like MG Road, Brigade Road and Lavelle Road have seen the emergence of about 12 CCD cafes in the past 18 months.
