Brand Licensing & Merchandises Mapping Up India's New Growth License


Bangalore: The global market for licensed products has been on boom. In 2012 the revenues cropped up to $186 billion and India too contributes a tiny portion of $125 million of this global sale, reports Abhilasha Ojha of Business Standard.

In Asia over 40 percent of licensed merchandise retail sales are based on indigenous properties. Graphs show that 60 percent of the sales are dominated by U.S./Canadian properties, 35 percent by Europe and 11 percent by Latin America.

Among the world wide sales of the licensed merchandise fashion brands heads the market with 23 per cent of market share. But the situation varies from one country to another, in India entertainment or character accounts for a huge portion of sales.
