Biden To Meet Indian PM Over Business Concerns

Bangalore: U.S. Businesses have insisted Joe Biden, the vice president of United States to convince Indian leaders to revise the government policies hindering American companies doing business in India, reports Reuters.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers along with some 40 other groups wrote in a letter to Biden that Indian few Indian rules and regulations have been affecting Indo-U.S. business deeds. The Group made it a point to mention that "These issues are systemic, going far beyond any one industry sector".

It is considered that the letter will surely help Biden in discussing the problems faced by U.S. businessman when he meets Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi. The prime areas may include the manufacturing, agriculture, telecommunications, biopharmaceutical, solar energy, entertainment, semiconductor, and other sectors, many companies face measures that are discriminatory, unfair, and/or inconsistent with international norms.

The letter clearly showed the sign of frustration about the Indian business environment. Even many American lawmakers and business groups are constantly pressuring President Barack Obama to raise the issues of policy changes in India.

U.S. first vice-president is accompanied by his wife Jill and will be visiting India for the first time. Biden has scheduled to meet Pranab Mukherjee before he departs India.

"The United States must make it clear to India's top leadership that barriers to free and open trade between India and the United States must be addressed if our close economic and diplomatic relationship is to continue to grow," Stephen Ezell, senior analyst with the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, said in a blog about Biden's trip.
