Bata Q2 Net Jumps 28 Percent


Kolkata: Bata India, the country's leading footwear retailer and manufacturer, reported a 28.45 percent jump in its standalone net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2012, to 52.65 crore from 40.99 crore for the same period in 2011. According to a release here, sales of the city-based company grew by about 18 percent during the period under review at 510.85 crore as against 434.51 crore the same period a year ago. Announcing the results, Bata India Ltd group managing director Rajeev Gopalakrishnan said: "Our focus to expand the retail outlets and our constant endeavor to improve the merchandise with newer and better designs will continue. "In fact such great response from our customers for the ever improving product range is very encouraging," he added. The company's total income has already decreased from 426 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 to 412 crore during the same period this year. Bata follows the calendar year. According to a release here, the company opened 61 new Bata stores during the period.
