Altec Lansing Eyes $20 Mn Revenues from India

NEW DELHI: Making a comeback to the Indian market, audio devices maker Altec Lansing aims to garner revenues of USD 15-20 million from the country in the first year of operations.

The brand, which has been licensed in India by Trade Bazaar (a part of Konark group), will be sold online through Flipkart and later will be expanded to other eCommerce platforms and offline retail stores.

"The audio category is among the highest growing categories after mobile phones. It is growing at 25-30 per cent and with our 'everything proof' range, we are confident of doing well in this market," Trade Bazaar Hometech Ventures Partner Shonit Dalmia told PTI.

The company has launched a range of portable speakers priced between Rs 3,000-14,000.

"These products are dustproof, sand proof, shockproof, waterproof and snowproof. In the first year (by March 2017), we expect to get USD 15-20 million (about Rs 133 crore) in revenues... We are starting with portable speakers and will soon expand our range to include home audio systems and computer speakers," he said.

The speakers launched today are compatible with all devices that are bluetooth-enabled like tablets and laptops and are compatible with iOS (Apple), Android and Blackberry platforms.

Altec Lansing was present in India earlier but is now making a comeback here after restructuring at the global level.
