8 Indians In Fortune's List Of Most Powerful Women


BANGALORE: Probably a decade ago, Indian women were not considered as strong as men in any sphere of life but today Indian women are on the verge of surpassing them everywhere. Today, they have a very powerful role traditionally in the domestic sphere, but they have also made their mark in the public sphere, whether in politics, the academy, business or entertainment.

And the same has been proved by the Indian women who have made into the Fortune’s List of Most Powerful Women in APAC (Asia-Pacific) region. If you are eager to note then here is the list of 8 Indian Women who are shining in the top 25 powerful women in the Fortune’s list as compiled by the Business Insider.

1. Chanda Kochhar

She is the MD and CEO of ICICI Bank and she heads the Corporate Centre of ICICI Bank. She is ranked 2nd in the Fortune’s list.

Under her leadership, the ICICI Group has crossed the 10, 000 crore net profit mark in 2013-14 and won the "Best Retail Bank in India" award in 2001, 2003, 2004. In 2009, she debuted at number 20 in the Forbes "World's 100 Most Powerful Women list.

Kochhar is honored with Padma Bhushan Award, the third highest civilian honor by the Government of India for the year 2010 for her services to banking sector.
