8 Ideas from Business Tycoons That Will Change the World

Bangalore: The world will no more remain the same. The most admired names in the business world are now concerned about how to change the world.

Some of the selected leaders were given the ability to post long-form pieces in LinkedIn in October. The question put up by LinkedIn was: ‘What one issue, innovation or event will change the world in 2013? What’s the “big idea” you’ll be betting on?’

The results were very much convincing as leaders from various backgrounds came forward with their views. Some of the views of these leaders as listed by LinkedIn are given below.

1. Richard Branson

Founder, Virgin Group

Richard Branson made his post to focus on improving the education and health and having a better environment to live in. He said: "I'd like the business community to take a hard look at the failures of the drug war and adopt humane solutions that focus on education and health care rather than criminalization and incarceration. Let's make 2013 the year we Break The Taboo."

He also said that rather than criminalizing the possession of marijuana, the government can impose tax on the possession of marijuana. In regard to this, he said: “I’m a member of the Global Commission on Drug Policy and we have been looking at this issue for the last two years. There are countries – such as Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, UK and Netherlands - that have adopted alternative strategies with promising results.”

2. Sallie Krawcheck

Former President of Merrill Lynch, US Trust, Smith Barney

Sallie Krawcheck made her post very clear on the improvisation of the working condition for the females. She said: “Thus, to make meaningful progress, smart companies will build cultures and career paths that go beyond today’s flexibility approaches: they will enable true ‘flexibility without shame’. (And don’t say this already exists: if it did, we wouldn’t have 60 percent of working moms wishing for it.)”

She also pointed out how the women group gets divided into 2 different categories after they choose to have kids. Most of these women are forced to opt for part-time jobs while the rest have to take complete leave from their works.

According to her, if this type of gender diversity gets removed, the GDP of the U.S. economy will rise by 9 percent.
