6 Companies Invest Huge To Clean Up India


BANGALORE: With the ‘Clean India’ initiative being introduced recently by the Narendra Modi led government, major Indian companies have come forward to join the drive by investing major sums to improve the sanitation facilities in the rural areas of India.

# Tata Consultancy Services

TCS has guaranteed that it will invest around 100 crore on the sanitation facilities for the girl students across 10,000 schools.

The company has labeled the amount to be spent on the initiative which would successfully end up improving the facilities and help lot more girl children to pursue their education for a longer period.

This would also help make a larger impact on the economic role in their communities, TCS said in a statement.

# Bharti Enterprises

Telecom major Bharti announced an initiative named 'Satya Bharti Abhiyan' to invest up to 100 crore in constructing toilets in Ludhiana over the next three years.

The foundation, which is the development arm of Bharti Enterprises, said the programme was inspired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to corporates in his Independence Day speech to join the cause of rural sanitation. Bharti Enterprises is led by Sunil Mittal who hails from Ludhiana.
