For most of you out there, the list might look surprising as it does not embrace renowned executives like Mukesh Ambani, Ratan Tata or Azim Premji.

While IT industry is one of the most lucrative sectors in India, CEOs who head these companies are considered to be among the richest people.

Here is a list of five CEOs from the IT sector who get highest salaries in India, compiled by Business Standard.

1. Balu Ganesh Ayyar
Executive Chairman & CEO, MphasiS
Annual Salary: 7.45 crore (74.5 million)

Balu Ganesh Ayyar joined MphasiS as the CEO in 2009.  In 2010, he was successful in achieving $1 billion revenue, which left many people at shock. In the same year, the company was honored with Outlook Money award for being the Best Value Creator among Large Caps.

Being the CEO of the company, Ayyar gave lot of prominence to employees and internal communications. Besides, he also took up many Corporate Social Responsibility causes especially for people who have several disabilities at the workplace.
