4 Women on Forbes India's 100 Richest People List


BANGALORE: Forbes released its new list of India's 100 Richest People where Industrialist Mukesh Ambani retained his position as the India’s richest with his net wealth worth $18.9 Bn.

Despite the growth of Indian economy, the wealth of the richest in the nation has declined owing to fall in the stock markets and depreciation of the rupee.

The new list witnessed 12 new faces which includes Flipkart’s Bansals and IndiGo's co-founder Rakesh Gangwal at 86th and 70th positions respectively.

However, the list featured only 4 women in the top 100 list. The wealth of these 4 women contributed to nearly 3 percent of the total wealth of the people on the list.

Here a list of 4 women who made it to the list of  Forbes India's 100 Richest People.

Savitri Jindal, O P Jindal group Chairperson
Savitri Jindal, Chairperson at O P Jindal group, has retained her position of being the richest woman in the nation. Her current net worth is $3.8 billion ( 25,080 cr. She ranks 23rd on the list.

Leena Tewari, USV Pharma Chairperson
Leena Tiwari made it to the list for the first time with her net worth $1.9 Bn and tagged herself as the second wealthiest women in India. The chairperson at the privately held generic drugs maker USV Pharma is ranked 54th on the list.

Vinod Gupta, Wife of Havells founder
Vinod Gupta is the wife of  late Qimat Rai Gupta, founder of Havells. Vinod Gupta inherited the wealth of her husband post his death in Novemeber last year. Havalls India deals in electrical fittings where she currently holds the position of an executive. She is ranked 74th on the list with wealth worth $ 1.6 Bn.

Indu Jain of Bennett, Coleman & Co
The 75 year old billionaire chairs one of the largest media group in the nation- Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd. She is ranked 57th on the list with her net worth of $ 1.9 billion. She is also the President at the Ladies wing of FICCI (FLO).
