2014's 8 Big Indian Companies By Revenues


BANGALORE: Indian companies are today in an enviable position. A majority of the biggest companies are from the oil & gas and banking sectors. State-run Indian Oil Corp has emerged as India’s biggest company in terms of annual revenue as per an annual list of Fortune 500 companies in India. Five out of the top 10 companies in Fortune 500 list of Indian companies are from the oil sector.

Let’s have a look at some of the biggest Indian companies of 2014 as compiled by rediff:

1. Indian Oil Corporation

India’s largest company, Indian Oil and its subsidiaries dominate the petroleum products market accounting for a 49 per cent share. Indian Oil began operations in 1959 as Indian Oil Company. The Indian Oil Corporation was formed in 1964 after the merger with Indian Refineries. It is involved in the manufacturing and marketing of various products like indane gas, petrol, diesel, crude oil and kerosene.

The company along with its subsidiaries holds maximum market share of petroleum products. With a strong workforce of more than 34,000, it provides its services in every nook and corner of India. The annual revenue of the company is 5,00,973 Crore.
