It’s currently owned by the Association of British Foods and sells a wide array of products such as, flavored tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Sotheby’s origin can be dated back to 11 March 1744, when Samuel Becker tried to sell rare and valuable books from the library of Sir John Stanley. Sotheby’s has three founding members—Samuel Becker, George Leigh and John Sotheby. It’s currently the world’s largest art business with sales of $5.8 billion in 2011. They have three main divisions—auction, finance and dealership.
