Mickey Drexler, another big figure in the list is famously credited with "wardrobing  America.” He has contributed his managerial abilities for Ann Taylor, Apple and Gap, and is presently making over J. Crew. He is often applauded for his management style, and for the tactics he employed in improving the employee output. 

In 2010, he accepted a private equity offer to take J. Crew private for $3 billion and invested $100 million of his own money into the company. 

Before coming to J. Crew he has worked as the CEO at Gap. In 1999, he was a director at Apple. Prior to this, in mid-1970s, he was a merchandising vice-president at Abraham & Straus in Brooklyn, New York. He has also worked for Ann Taylor, Bloomingdale and Macy.

He completed his studies from Bronx High School of Science, City College of new York and University at Buffalo. He later acquired a MBA from Boston University Graduate School of Management.

Lee C. Bollinger, working in the academic sector, is the only non-profit CEO on the list. Before he joined Columbia University as its nineteenth president, he was president of the University of Michigan. 

Bollinger, who belongs to the small town of Baker City in eastern Oregon, is a prominent advocate of affirmative action and a leader in promoting diversity and open debate on University campuses.

Lee is popular in the Manhattan campus as he is affectionately called "PrezBo" by his students. Bollinger being the president, Columbia became one of the top overall schools in the country. Its business school came to the fifth position in the country in 2011.
