Global rank: 4

Edward Whitacre while leaving AT&T Inc in 2007 charged $230 million as his retirement package. Occupying the fourth global ranking among CEOs with highest retirement packages, Edward again joined General Motors as chairman in 2009.

5. Robert Nardelli
Company: Home Depot Inc
Package: $223 million
Tenure: 2000-2007
Global rank: 5

He collected $223 million while stepping down as the CEO of Home Depot Inc. After leaving Home Depot Inc, Robert Nardelli joined served as temporary CEO for gun maker company Freedom Group and director of NewPage Corp. With the retirement package of $223 million, Nardelli occupies the fifth in the global ranking.
